History of establishment and activity of research institute
The Petroleum Engineering Research Center of Sahand University of Technology was established in 2001 with the aim of creating coherence in the university's research activities in the field of upstream industries and also in order to train efficient workers for the country's oil industry. This center was upgraded to Sahand Oil and Gas Research Institute SOGRI in 2013 by obtaining official permission from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

ـThe current recovery rate of Soroush field is estimated at 4%, which due to the significant amount of oil in place in this field, the necessity of studies to increase the yield of zinc from this important field is revealed.
